Learn to Swim and Water Safety Programme at Strathcona Swim School
At Strathcona Swim School, we offer an outstanding learn-to-swim programme that is focused on stroke development and water safety. Open to children aged 4 and above, our experienced instructors aim to build confidence in the water while teaching vital life skills. In addition, we foster a positive and encouraging environment, helping children feel at ease as they learn.

Qualified Instructors at Strathcona Swim School
All our instructors are Austswim certified or hold equivalent qualifications. Additionally, they bring years of experience, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to student success. While we aim for consistency, instructor changes may occur due to unforeseen circumstances. That being said, we ensure that every change is communicated clearly to students and their families.
Learn to Swim Programme: Class Schedule
Regular Swimming Lessons
Monday – Friday: 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Junior Squad Sessions:
Monday – Thursday: 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Strathcona Holiday Swimming Programme:
Join our four-day intensive swimming lessons during the January, April, and September school holidays.
Swimming Levels
We divide our programme into six levels to ensure structured progression for each child.
Level 1: Jellyfish
Level 2: Platypus
Level 3: Crocodiles
Level 4: Stingrays
Level 5: Seals
Level 6: Sharks
Our instructors regularly assess students to track their progress, and progression is based on individual readiness, ensuring personalised development at each stage.

Enrolment Information
New Students
To enrol in our learn-to-swim programme, complete and submit the Strathcona Swim School Enrolment Form. New students must be at least 4 years old. We confirm your child’s place once we receive successful payment.
Re-Enrolments
Current students should re-enrol in the final two weeks of the term to secure their spot for the following term.
Lesson Fees
Regular Swimming Lessons: $25 per session
Private Swimming Lessons: $75 per session (pre-paid, no make-up lessons)
All fees are non-refundable, except with a valid medical certificate. Payments can be made by cash, cheque, or credit card and are due at the time of enrolment. Fees are pro-rated for students starting after the first week of the term.
Make-up Lessons & Cancellations
Make-up Lessons
Students who miss a regular session may attend a make-up lesson, subject to availability. Make-up lessons must be scheduled within the same term. No credit or refund will be issued for unused make-up lessons.
Cancellations & Refunds
If you cancel, we will credit your fees to the next term. We offer refunds only with a valid medical certificate.
Policies and Guidelines
Supervision
Children under 10 years old must be actively supervised by an adult (16+). Only students enrolled in lessons may be in the pool under instructor supervision.
Health Policies
Please notify us of any medical conditions or injuries before the first lesson. For health reasons, children suffering from contagious illnesses should not use the pool.
Change Room Policy
The use of cameras or mobile phones in the change rooms is prohibited. Women may bring pre-school boys (6 years and under) in their care into the female change room. Please make sure you use the private stalls. Men may bring pre-school girls (6 years and under) in their care into the male change room. Please make sure you use the private stalls. Staff change rooms are not accessible to the public.
Photography Policy
We do not permit photography on the premises to ensure the privacy and safety of all swimmers. Your understanding and cooperation in respecting the privacy of our swimmers is greatly appreciated.
General Conduct
Strathcona reserves the right to dismiss or refuse entry to patrons for inappropriate conduct.
- Please enjoy your food and drink outside the pool area. Water is permitted within the facility. No glass is to be brought into the facility. Help keep our facility clean.
- Do not interfere with any pool or safety equipment.
- Animals are not allowed in the pool area.
Release of Liability
- The responsible person hereby gives the child or children under their care permission to participate in the Strathcona Swim School learn to swim program.
- The responsible person acknowledges that swimming instruction involves a degree of risk to the participant.
- The responsible person hereby releases Strathcona Swim School and Strathcona Baptist Girls Grammar School Ltd. from all liability to the full extent permitted by law for death, injury or loss caused through their child’s participation in swimming instruction and related activities conducted by Strathcona staff whether due to any negligent act, breach of duty, default or omission on behalf of Strathcona management, staff, members, or agents.
- The responsible person hereby gives consent for Strathcona staff to seek emergency treatment for the child or children under their care if required.
